The Town of Grand Falls-Windsor is developing a Community Safety and Well-Being Plan, and we want to hear from you.

Community safety and well-being is about more than responding to crime. It is about creating a community where people feel safe, supported and connected, and where residents have access to the services and opportunities they need to thrive.

The plan will be informed by the experiences, perspectives and priorities of people who live, work and spend time in Grand Falls-Windsor.

This is your opportunity to help shape the future of our community.

What Is a Community Safety and Well-Being Plan?

A Community Safety and Well-Being Plan takes a proactive approach to understanding and addressing the factors that influence safety and quality of life within a community.

The planning process will help Grand Falls-Windsor:

  • Better understand residents’ experiences and perceptions of safety and well-being.

  • Identify key community needs, concerns and priorities.

  • Understand existing strengths, services and resources that can be built upon.

  • Identify opportunities to prevent or reduce risks before they become more serious.

  • Strengthen collaboration between the Town, community organizations, service providers and residents.

  • Develop practical, locally informed priorities and actions to support a safer and healthier community.

The goal is to develop a plan that reflects the needs and experiences of Grand Falls-Windsor and provides a clear direction for future action.

The Community Safety and Well-Being Plan will combine community engagement with research and analysis to develop priorities and actions that reflect the needs of Grand Falls-Windsor.

The process will include:

Understanding the Community

Listening to the Community

Learning from other Communities

Identifying Priorities and Developing the Plan

Reviewing existing information, community characteristics, services, resources and relevant research to establish a strong understanding of the local context.

Gathering input from residents and community members through the community survey and focus groups, along with engagement with key stakeholders and service providers.

Reviewing Community Safety and Well-Being Plans and practices from other jurisdictions to identify approaches and lessons that may be relevant to Grand Falls-Windsor.

Bringing together the research and engagement findings to identify key themes, needs, strengths and priority areas for community safety and well-being to create an actionable, local Community Safety and Well-Being Plan.
